Fossil-free transport and electrified vehicles are not just a vision of the future, but a reality that is already underway at Best (since 2021). Thanks to the fact that a fuel report is produced in connection with the charging or refueling of our vehicles, we know that over 99% of our deliveries are fossil-free.

Responsible transition

Thanks to the renewable diesel HVO100, we can operate fossil-free using the diesel vehicles already in our fleet. This allows us to utilise them throughout their entire lifespan and avoid scrapping fully functional vehicles unnecessarily!

Whenever a vehicle in our fleet needs replacing, we always ensure that an electric vehicle is added where it is logistically feasible. We are steadily transitioning to zero-emission delivery vans and light trucks.

In addition to the obvious investment in electric vehicles, we have established a charging infrastructure at our terminals. We have also built valuable, long-term partnerships with providers offering charging services, making it easy to top up batteries while out in the city.

By consolidating and co-transporting our customers' goods, we reduce the number of kilometres driven per delivery. We also train all our drivers in eco-driving techniques to lower fuel consumption.

What sustainability certifications does Best have?

We are certified according to SUSAs environmental management standard, Svensk Miljöbas. This is a quality-assured and verified management system designed to ensure a systematic approach to reducing environmental impact while promoting continuous improvements towards sustainable development.

We are also certified with the transport industry’s sustainability certification for road freight transport, Fair Transport. This certification ensures that transports are carried out responsibly, with road safety and climate-smart practices in focus.

What is HVO100?

HVO100 is a renewable fuel made from 100% renewable raw materials. When calculating its climate benefit according to the "Tank to Wheel" method, HVO100 produces no fossil greenhouse gas emissions. It is perfectly possible to refuel a regular diesel vehicle with HVO100 and drive fossil-free.

My package was transported in a diesel vehicle, so the delivery isn’t fossil-free?

A diesel vehicle is always classified as a diesel vehicle, regardless of what is in the tank. Our diesel vehicles are fueled with the renewable fuel HVO100, making the delivery fossil-free. However, this isn't visible from the outside, so we understand that it needs to be explained!

Social sustainability

We believe it goes without saying that everyone working at Best should have secure employment with fair working conditions. That’s why we have:

  • A collective agreement covering all our employees (office staff, terminal workers, and drivers).
  • A requirement for all our contracted hauliers to have collective agreements. We carry out regular audits and checks on F-tax certificates, traffic and goods permits, and employer contributions.
  • Our Code of Conduct, which helps both us and our subcontractors act responsibly and make the right decisions.
  • The whistleblowing service WhistleB, enabling anyone with concerns about serious misconduct to submit an anonymous report.
